Optical Express

opticalexpresstourupdate

13th April 2012 – This week was planned to be a ‘progress’ week as I look towards the start of the bulk of Challenge Tour events. This year the Tartan Tour, and Optical Express Tour (both Scottish) have combined together.

the first event saw a very strong field at Dundonald Links this week, consisting of European, Challenge, Seniors, EuroPro and Tartan Tour pros. It was thought to be one of the strongest fields a domestic PGA event in Scotland had seen.

I have been working on a few things with Ian over the last week or so, and I am trying to integrate them into my tournament play, which this week I was going to do.

Wednesday’s first round was very solid ball striking, but very very poor on the greens, (70). Thursday I didn’t hit the ball good at all, and putted poorly too, which culminated in (77). After the round yesterday I headed over to my course Glasgow Gailes for a couple of hours, focusing primarily on putting and rhythm with my irons. I felt great leaving yesterday and then today it all clicked. I shot -7 (65) and ended up finishing 7th. Considering the 77 I was pretty pleased, and as I said, gives me just a little more confidence in what I am trying to change in my game.

I am looking forward to the next Optical Express event. It is at Spey Valley in Aviemore, site for the Scottish Challenge in June. It will give me a chance to get some final prep for Madiera, and also get a look at Spey valley.
