T-14TH AT THE COLUMBIA CHAMPIONSHIP

columbiathumb

11th March 2012 – Callum came tied 14th this week at The Pacific Rubiales Columbia Championship, challenging weather at the start of the week meant tough conditions to score low. See what Callum has to say…

Colombia last week was an interesting adventure. With all the flights, buses, police escorts and 45 mph winds. I played far from my best golf, especially on Sunday, but once again I gave myself a chance going into the final round, and I have no doubt that if I keep doing that, my time will come.

It was a very tough week, with a strong wind gusting off the sea all week, there was a high premium on cut off swings, solid putting and a hell of a lot of patience. I played decent on Friday and Saturday, stayed calm in testing conditions, but I learned a lot about myself on Sunday.

I played really poor, and as bad as Ive played in a long time, but I hung in and struggled through it and shot 2 over. Although it wasn’t the final round I was looking for, I comfortably could’ve shot 85. I hung in, made a lot of saves and got out of my round what I could.

I have 2 months off now, as I am missing Kenya. My next event is likely to be the co-sanctioned event in Madeira. I have a bit of time to get physically prepared for what is going to be a long season, and I am quite satisfied with a solid first two events of 2012.
